I've established that:

• There is no support for local split screen multiplayer for Doom on Nintendo Switch, and probably never will be. Apparently the days of splitscreen FPS similar to Goldeneye on the N64 are over, sadly.
• When Doom was first released for Nintendo Switch, there was no online multiplayer, but a very large patch after release fixed this and online multiplayer is now a possibility, if you download the very large update.

You can also split your screen three ways or more by simply selecting more applications in the Taskbar! So that’s what is involved to split your screen if you have one monitor. If you have more than one monitor, you won’t be able to split programs on the second monitor using Windows XP or Windows 7. While the game doesn’t come with a split-screen option built-in, there are ways you can configure the game to work in split-screen on your PC. If you aren’t familiar with the Borderlands franchise, it’s a first-person shooter which is renowned for its co-op mode that allows up to four players to play the game at the same time.

However between all the hundreds of articles on the above two controversies, I can't find out:

1. Can two or more people, with two or more Switch consoles, in the same room, start a private multiplayer Doom game, for just them, without needing to go online?
2. If yes:
   1. Does this require an extra copy of the Doom game per player? (multiple cartridges or downloads)
   2. Does this require any/all players to have an account with or subscription to the Nintendo online gaming service?

As of date, it's not possible to have multiplayer session just for local party.

However, it has party option which allows to play online multiplayer with your friends (as like you, your friends and bunch of other folks on the same server). You can see party option in bottom right corner:

As for accounts, on Nintendo game store's Doom page it is listed that:

Nintendo Account required. Online features will be free until the Nintendo Switch Online Service launches in 2018

So I think all players need copy of game and Online Service subscription.

Doom Split Screen Xbox One

So I recently got Doom and have been trying to play split screen multiplayer. In fact comma I also try to play split screen multiplayer on Assassin's Creed. Both ways I was not able to do it

I created a second account so I have account 1 and account 2. They are both signed in. Account 1 opens views party and invites account 2. Accounts 2 presses the Xbox button to accept the invite. The result is that only account 1 is in the party and has control.

Am I doing something wrong? Does Doom not have split screen multiplayer? FYI, I am trying to do this in the general multiplayer and not in Co-op. As I understand Doom does not have multiplayer Co-op.

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I've just had a lot of trouble and can't find anything on Google. Thank you!
