Windows 10 Nothing Happens When I Open Exe
When I click on ANY .exe file, absolutely NOTHING happens. No pop up. No messaging. No loading icon. Nothing.
One of our reader asked us this common problem faced by many windows users using windows 7 or vista when they were not able to run any.exe file as for most of them nothing happens when they double click on a.exe file or a shortcut pointing to program or software in. Starting with the Threshold 2 update Windows 10 will be able to be activated with your Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1 license. The Windows 10 Threshold 2.ISO will both accept an eligible license key at installation and if that step is simply skipped Windows 10 will also accept and activate with those same keys.
I'm running Windows 10 which I upgraded from Windows 7.
I have tried multiple solutions to this already. Here are a few:

- I have antivirus which I have disabled, as well as disabled all Windows Defender and UAC restrictions and firewalls.
- Of course I have tried 'Running it as administrator.' I'm also on the admin account on the machine.
- I have tried the registry key resolution:
- Open Command Prompt (run as admin) type cdwindows
- Press 'Windows key + R' on your keyboard type regedit
- locate HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.exe in the right side pane change the value of Default key to exefil
- On the registry editor go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTexefileshellopencomman
- in the right side pane change the value of Default key to '%1' %
- then restart your computer
- I have tried the Windows Installer solution. However, every time I restart my computer, the Windows Installer service is once again disabled by default and set to 'Manual.':
- Press Windows key+ R to open Run command.
- Type services.msc and press Enter.
- Search for Windows Installer and if it is stopped, right click on it and click on Start.
- I have tried running it in Safe Mode
- I have never changed my OS hard drive from being the C drive, so everything is still the C drive and always has been.
Windows 10 Nothing Happens When I Open Exe File
This issue only started about 6 months ago. I've randomly been able to get one or two .exe files to run since it started, and always after restarting my computer. That no longer seems to work.
Anyone have any suggestions? Also, please do not offer the 'reinstall Windows' solution. If that's the solution, I'm burning my PC and never using Windows again.
