There are many reasons to remove a door panel from a Lexus. The door panel must be removed to get to the power door locks and window regulator, to install a keyless entry system or an alarm system and to get to the speakers in the door. Most speaker panels come off easily, but in a Lexus, the panels are made into the door so the entire door panel must be removed. Outside the US, the Lexus IS spearheaded Lexus' growing sales efforts in Europe, Australia, and South Africa, becoming the best-selling model in Lexus' lineup in many of the aforementioned markets. In the US, as of 2011, the Lexus IS was the third place best-selling.

Step 1

Open the door completely. Use a very small flat head screwdriver to pry the plastic trim away from the door handle. Pry at the top and at the bottom of the plastic until it pops out. Pull the door handle away from the car until you can slide the plastic out from the handle. Disconnect the wire connection from the plastic trim and place it in a safe area.

Step 2

Use a small flat head screwdriver to pry the switches from the door. The switches for the locks and windows are all included on one panel. This can be popped out of place by prying on the side of the panel. Pop it out and disconnect the wire connections. Lay the panel to the side.

Step 3

Locate eight screws that need to be removed. One is down inside the hole where the switches were removed, another is in the center and bottom of the arm rest on the door, another is located in the indention at the front of the door and another is at the very back of the panel, near the center. Four screws are located along the bottom edge of the door panel. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove these screws.

Step 4

Use a large flat screwdriver to pry the door panel up and away from the six clips holding the panel on. Three are located under the front edge of the door and the other three are under the rear edge of the panel. Slide the screw driver along under the edge of the panel and the pry up near the clips. They will make a popping sound and the door panel will be loose, but still connected to the door at the top.

Lift up on the panel until it slides out of the metal hooks that it is hanging on. Remove the wire connector between the door and the light in the door panel. The panel should be free from the door.
